beautiful birds
Messdeck Annie asked:

In the summertime, at dawn, the birds singing is so beautiful and really loud and raucous. Most of the same birds live here in the wintertime (I am in Canada) at our feeders but you don’t hear the same chorus at dawn as in the summertime. Why are they so much quieter in winter?

most birds go south for the winter

Birds sing more during the breeding season, which is spring and summer, because they have territories to defend and families to communicate with. During winter, they’re just trying to survive until spring.

Most birds fly south to warmer climates for the winter. Less birds=fewer bird sounds.

because some have migrated and there not as much birds.

they’re quieter in the winter because it’s cold, and since it’s cold, they don’t like to waste their breath talking among themselves in beautiful-sounding chirps.
