What kind of telescope for bird-watching?
Filed Under Conservation | 1 Comment
Recently, I just enjoy watching birds in national parks. I plan to have a telescope for bird-watching, a practical and a small one, so I can put it in my bag when walking across the national park. Please give me some advice to buy the kind of telescope (the good one), e.g. its name, size, etc, I really don’t know, cause I’m only a beginner in bird-watching. Thank you.

The birds, bot male & female have distictfully colored heads and bodies. Heads can be purple, black, red. Bodies can be multi wtih White and Yellow, Purple and Turquoise, Red and Blue, etc. The male jumps up an down when courting the female and has a pleasant soft song. Smaller than canaries; bigger than Zebra finches.

Why men just watch beautiful birds?

Is it the reason the not-so-beautiful act hostile towards handsome men?

We observe that bird watching is a great hobby in West Europe and U.S and people watch silently for hours together thru binoculars and also video the childish antics, food habits, nesting activities etc of birds and also record their musical sounds, notes and chirpings. Not that we of the east are averse to such bird watching.City folks and students everywhere are showing increasing interest in this hobby. It provides a great escape from the miserable life in gas pollution and sound pollution filled concrete jungles of the cities. it also gives a spiritual satisfaction just as felt by wordsworth in his sojourns in rural sorroundings in Lake Districts.I just want to know the level of popularity of the hobby in the West.

I am scared of birds, am I alone in this?
Filed Under Birds | 3 Comments
Is there a name for this phobia?
I admire beautiful birds in the wild, but can not live with the thought of one of them landing on me or flapping around me.
I can not walk through avaries, and found a similar feeling when I walked through the butterfly house at the zoo. I freaked out when a butterfly landed on me.
Anyone else like me or am I a freak? LOL
LOL - I knew that someone would pick up and call me a freak!

My family and I are in to exotic birds and wildlife. We heard of the beautiful birds in your islands. We are leaving our London villa to not only enjoy your culture but would looooovee to do Bird Watching..
Where can we go, and would it be possible to get a guide?
Should we pack our English Grey tea bags or can we buy them there?
We heard so much about the beauty of you lands and can’t wait to get there.

Why don’t you hear birds singing as much, in the north, in wintertime?
Filed Under Birds | 5 Comments
In the summertime, at dawn, the birds singing is so beautiful and really loud and raucous. Most of the same birds live here in the wintertime (I am in Canada) at our feeders but you don’t hear the same chorus at dawn as in the summertime. Why are they so much quieter in winter?
